What is Entertaiment?

Entertaiment is a large and complex field of endeavor that encompasses many forms of artistic expression, including movies, music, games, literature, art, and live performance. It also includes sports, philanthropy, and a vast array of other pursuits, from sex to science. Entertainment can be viewed as a means of social, political, and/or economic change. The word entertaiment is derived from the Latin intertenere, meaning “to hold inside.” This is an example of an ambivalent word, whose semantics constantly shift to meet changing societal needs.
