Entertaiment is an activity understood objectively, involves communication between text and audience, requires an external stimulus for its existence, offers pleasure and takes place in a passive form. It may be playful, as in children’s entertainment; educational (as in the case of Scheherazade, the tale from the Persian professional storytelling tradition that inspired composers to make orchestral works, director Pasolini to make a film and an innovative video game). It can also have serious purposes as in ceremonies, celebrations, religious festivals or satire.
